![]() Thank goodness these games lighten up after a bit. You start off clubbing slimes and rodent creatures the size of a small dog as if you were the most clumsy animal poacher that ever lived. It seems it’s de rigeur to start off fighting alone, without any special abilities, companions, or limited attacks. Anyways, sorry for necroing the thread, just wanted to wait till I had a few more hours into the game before I gave a serious review of it.What is it with these Monster Hunter-style games? The ones that I’ve played are like pulling teeth through the tutorial phase. Not the best, but okay- it kind of fills that void where Phantasy Star should be, but not enough to replace it just kinda like a temp fix. As a standalone action game, it's decent. The best thing I can say is wait for it to hit the 25ish mark, and do not think of this as a Monster Hunter clone or try and compare it to SS or Toukiden, you will be let down. Just figured I would add this.Ĭlosing thoughts: It's a decent game, I picked it up physical on a whim because there was a Launch edition left in the store, I have some sick obsession with those stupid boxes. I realize with games like this that isn't a huge selling point, and it hasn't stopped me from playing. I like my PC because well, they look like a BAMF, but other than that I have tried, but can not get into the story at all. Zero connection to the story or characters. I have yet to see it, and all the bosses that people complained about were easy enough to 1 shot without any serious grinding (I think I've went back and redone a level 5 times since I started for mats) sooo there's that. ![]() This is kind of a let down because the main reason I picked up the game was people pointing out that it had a crazy difficulty spike. ![]() I can not imagine how much of a pain in the ass it's going to be to get everything in this game, I do not see myself platinum this.Įasy, at least I have felt that way so far (In the last chapter so I have no idea if I'm about to get bitch smacked or what) I played a sword warrior exclusively, and from what I have read Assassin/Mage makes it even easier. At least where I am it's pretty simple to switch up your cards/gear for the fight ahead. I'm going to lump in the ability to easily change gear and stuff here. Favorite part of the game.Ĭustomization/Dress up. Jumping so high and pecking at it's head only to have a cannon blast the bastards. I just love the visuals of it and everything. The big ass giant fights are epic, especially those end of chapter 'Distraction' missions. Easy to play is not referencing difficulty, just play-ability. One of those games you can kind of zone out and grind at, with the option to change background music and things like that it's pretty decent in that aspect. 17 hours in and I'm on Chapter 9-5 Surt, I think that's the one. Okay, I waited a bit to reply to this because I have just got the game. Never played the original Ragnarok Odyssey, but I did hear that the it got pretty bad reception compared to the competition. So, how is the full version of this game? How is the customization in it? Is there a lot of gear customization like in Monster Hunter? Can you change your skills? How are the fights in the full game- is there a lot of variety? I loved the way the Grendel fight in the demo worked, at least.Īlso, one thing I've heard of often is the 400 level superdungeon- how is that? Is it mostly a boss gauntlet like the Alice mode in Soul Sacrifice: Delta, or is it an actual dungeon crawl? This is the one thing that really interests me.įor reference, I loved Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate, loving Soul Sacrifice Delta just as much right now, and I also really liked Toukiden. If you try interacting with anyone else, or leaving the room, you just get told "that's for full members only, we'll tell you what this does later". However, it was very limited, so I don't really know much about how the full game stacks up to other games in the genre.įor those who didn't try the demo, you can create a character, try three missions, buy potions. Hello! I recently tried out the new demo for Ragnarok Odyssey: Ace, and enjoyed it a bit.
